Does the trick
Here in the South Texas heat you can bake cookies on the dashboard of your car. Brave, perhaps foolhardy, is the person who dares to have a black car with leather seats and not use some kind of window shade. I have literally (not hyperbolically) burned myself on the metal part of the seat belt. It's only May and already you get the sweats just walking out to your car.
This shade does exactly what you need it to do: block out the sun. It ain't gonna make your car seem as though the AC was running the whole time you were away; instead, it helps keep the interior from getting so hot and your steering wheel and gear shift won't be scalding hot when you place your hands on them. It also helps protect the interior and dashboard from sun damage.
The shade is two pieces, which fits my '09 Optima just fine. I have a goose neck cell phone cradle suctioned to the windshield that I just place the shade in front of and lower my visor to keep it in place. They fold up neatly and fit in the driver side door, but admittedly it did take me a few tries to get the motion down. Overall, I don't dread the next six months of summer quite as much now.
