A great accessory for your GBA SP
No offense to anyone, but the other reviews( so far ) of this are completely unhelpful and the reviewers don't even own it. Well, I DO own it, and would like to clarify a few things.
WHAT IT IS: The game changer is a platform for your GBA SP. It allows your game console to slide snugly on top of it because it has a connection mechanism that snaps in place in the area where you would normally insert your game. The front, back, and left sides all have slots for you to insert your games( each slot has a number from 1-3 labled on it ). The right side has an on/off switch( which now works as the ACTUAL on/off switch for your GBA SP ) and a switch that controls each game slot. If you want to play the game in slot #3, simply flick the switch to the #3 position( You'll have to first turn the console off then flick the switch and turn it back on ).
HOW IT WORKS: The game changer requires no additional batteries or power sources to work. It connects right into your GBA SP like any game would so it is powered by whatever power source you're using to power your GBA. I doubt that it requires much( if any ) additional power off your GBA since it isn't actually electronic.
WHAT GAMES WILL WORK ON THIS: This is NOT similar to a cd changer. The games stay in the same place and are NOT shuffled around internally like other reviewers have hinted, thus, if your original GB and GBC games work on your GBA SP( which they do ) they will work on this changer since the games are going into the same type of slot they would normally be going into on the GBA.
WHY I LIKE IT: Since the GBA was meant to be portable, it's nice to be able to carry your GBA SP around with multiple games without having to worry about losing them because you had to carry them with you separately. Yes, this changer does bulk the system's width up a bit but certainly not enough to hinder the practicalness of the SP's small size. it's only about an extra 1 and 1/2" of width and a total of about 1" extra in length. I think that little extra is an advantage because it makes the SP a little easier to handle if you're an older person who doesn't have tiny, little kid hands.
BOTTOM LINE: Obviously not a necessity but certainly, a great accessory to have if you want to play more than one game and not fumble to find the other games. It's very cool looking and I'm guessing that that extra bit of size and substance probably makes your SP more durable and protected if tossed around or dropped. VERY awesome and if you managed to afford 100 bucks for your SP, this $10 add-on is very attractively priced.
