Ahoy, Matey!
The K2 Explorer is the kayak version of the Cadillac brand: A smooth, roomy ride with great tracking and heading, easy handling and maneuverability. It's a good-looking kayak, too, with bright yellow sides and skirts, and bold, black markings.
Ease of use and outstanding control is what makes this kayak worth a look. Price is another. For just over $100, we own a collapsible / portable kayak part of the Intex line that is little work and a lot of fun. My 11-year-old son, who sat in the front of the boat, taking in the water and shore sights, barely paddled. Despite its 10' length, buoyant design and only one paddler, I had trouble neither propelling nor controlling this boat.
We were loaded in, too, for a day trip with supplies including the hand pump, bilge pump, extra paddle (although unnecessary since this boat is so easy to handle with one paddler), snacks, water, mats, ropes, stakes, binoculars, camera and other misc gear like Wet Ones. We stashed half under the front skirt, and half behind my seat in the back. The craft was balanced despite my son's 90 pounds in the front and my 145 pounds - and gear - riding in the back. Pictures show even displacement. The craft is surprisingly stable. I never felt in tipping danger even when we rode into the wake of passing jet skis and motor boats.
This kayak is easy, comfortable, powerful, attractive, and affordable. What's not to like? It's a beautiful piece of equipment that will give you many happy water adventures.
