UPDATE: so I am updating my review, about 7 months later. I took one star off because the vacuum started to make a loud noise in the motor every time it turned on. It also started to lose suction. However as a family of 4 That lived in a home with all carpet, I probably vacuumed far more than most people. It is still a good vacuum IMO and for the price you can't go wrong. But don't expect this to last long term, unfortunately. I was skeptical when purchasing a $60 vacuum. In the past I'd had the worst experience with vacuums. It seemed like every couple of years I was replacing my cheap vacuums (I'd spend $80 or less). A few years ago I splurged and got a Shark. It barely sucked anything up and when we moved I threw it away rather than take with us because it was that bad. So at the new place I was in need of a new vacuum but once again our budget dictated what we could get. Initially we borrowed a friend's Bissel. Horrible!! I read so many reviews online (this was my first vacuum purchase since signing up for Amazon) and finally felt confident in buying a "cheap" vacuum. When it arrived I my confidence was wavering- it felt so cheap and looked so cheap. My husband even said "great, another $60 hunk of plastic we'll have to replace in a couple years." But then we vacuumed. And oh. my. gosh! This vacuum is AMAZING! The picture I attached is from my small living room!! I had just vacuumed not even 12 hours prior to that (with my friend's Bissel). PLUS, the carpets had just been professionally steam cleaned days prior to us moving in. So professionally cleaned carpets + us vacuuming daily with a different vacuum = THAT much nastiness picked up by this new Godsend of a vacuum! I had to empty the canister 7 times when I went through and vacuumed the whole house (which is a small home). It picked up so much! Sometimes I'll vacuum less than 24 hours later and the canister will be full. And we are clean people- I just think this vacuum does such a great job at getting what other vacuums leave behind that you don't realize how much dirt is in your house until you buy a good vacuum. As a family of 4, with kids that make lots of messes, I don't worry about my vacuum not getting it all. Because it does- and then some! Trust me, this is a great product!!! I have tried an expensive shark, tried Bissel, tried all the under $100 vacuums and NONE compare to this! It is my dream to own a dyson one day but until we can afford that I am quite content with this product that IMHO is equally as good!
