Forget those wussy refrigerator magnets that'll barely hold up a sheet of paper. These 1/2" neodymium discs can supervise a 12-month calendar, your hand towel, pot holders, your heaviest kitchen knife, and the family cat. Holding knives is where they go to town. You don't need one of those bulky, unattractive counter-top knife quivers that take up so much space; slap these 1/2" disc magnets on the side of the fridge and stick your knife-blades to them. Those strip magnets made for holding knives work well, but they have to be mounted somewhere; the disc magnets don't, and they can be moved around. I've been using them this way for years, and they're the best. The knives are in easy reach, and the edges never touch anything that can dull them down. You pluck the knife you want, and the magnet stays put. Other uses I rely on: Sticking a pen to the fridge. For sewing, holding scissors, pins, and items that you want handy. Hanging a curtain on a steel door. For home office area, they're great if you have any metal desktop organizers, but keep them away from jump drives and computer hard drive.
