Deliciously nostalgic
I have always, and I repeat, ALWAYS wanted a retro style music player. I am in love with that grainy, filtered and crackling sound you can only find on vintage audio players. This turntable is a 1-up for me, because now I can play old-school records that I have from my parents' generation. + Aesthetics: I Absolutely love the turquoise PU leather casing. It doesn't look cheap, and it's constructed with care... nicely finished seams and all the hardware/metal detailing is right on par. Other aesthetic components, like the handle and clasp are also well-constructed and durable. + Hardware quality and durability: I give it a pass with only one thing I had issue with (the lever for the tone arm). I found a work-around to simply keep the lever stationary, so as to not experience the weird tone-arm glitch that caused it not to sit flush on the record when using it to place the stylus. I explain this in my video. On the brighter side, the tone arm, stylus, platform and the belt are all in working order, and in fact work quite well. No wobble or bowling on the platter, and the belt was strong enough to resume playback with very little lag. If you hold the record down with your hands and let go, the speed will be corrected in a matter of one second. I also tested the stylus and belt by push/pulling the record back and forth and the needle didn't skip off the record, and the belt had very good feedback. I'm very pleased with this. + Sound quality: Exactly what I wanted. Grainy, filtered, and nostalgically awesome. The speakers oddly enough still can go to great volumes without distorting/clipping. For a vintage-mimic table, I was actually quite happy to see it could achieve this. It actually sounds great on its own. + Other Features: This turntable plays at 33/45/78 RPM successfully. With a trained ear, you can ear the RPM is bang on. It also includes a switch to automatically shut off when the record is finished playing. On the side you have multiple inputs making this turntable usable with your mp3 devices, and other speaker systems utilizing the RCA and or AUX. This is brilliant because now I am able to hook up my vintage speaker using the AUX cable. + Using external speakers: This worked brilliantly. I was able to get louder volumes using my 40W portable speaker, and blast my vintage records without distorting. You could still hear the lovely grain from the records. NOTES: Do not get this turntable if you are going to play music that simply sounds horrible on lower fidelity/vintage players. It's not suited for this. CONCLUSION: If you want nostalgia and a deliciously vintage and grainy/filtered sound, look no further. I am in love and would give this 10 stars if I could. Such an awesome price for a nostalgic piece of equipment. I am more than satisfied. *sample provided for review.
