I saw them when they first came out and thought, "Pretty neat, but I don't have that kind of money" (more than twice what this unit cost). But now a few years have passed, and I took another look. Many different manufacturers now exist over a range of price points, including that first BIG brand. I saw this unit and clicked on it because of the number of good reviews, noting the features that appealed to me. Chose this one from among several candidates at the same price-point, and have been thrilled with it since it arrived! There is a lack of decent instructions regarding accessing the many features it offers, so this aggravated me a little, and is the reason for the loss of a star. The pieces of the puzzle were there, but it took a while to even realize that let alone puzzle it out. I still don't know how to do several advanced tasks. But I will learn. And it is fun!! The good side of that coin is the robot knows exactly what to do. It is only patiently waiting for it's new human to order it to fulfill it's task. So all you have to really do to start the show is turn it on with one button! She begins to clean and map. It took several charge-cycles to fully map my house, but it has never been so clean!!! The robot returns to it's charger on it's on to recharge whenever the battery got low, then resumes it's cleaning cycle where it left off (this didn't always work out, but more often then not that was user error). Just push the button again. Once it learns the house, it is fast and efficient. It's so good, it makes me clean other stuff more out pride. I realize some of this is "newbie" shock and awe, but I can appreciate what appears so far to be a very well-programmed cleaning bot! You do need to follow it around a bit over the couple or so days it takes to map the floor however, because it will get caught here and there, or tangled on cords, etc. When this happens, you will probably do as I did and "bot-proof" the house as it goes along. No harm came to anything in my house during this process, not even my cat. Although, she is a bit of a drama queen, and made a big show of being annoyed. The bot never seemed to approach her at full speed either, but slowed down. The app that can be utilized has a bit of a privacy problem in what permissions it requires, but is optional, as the bot can be fully controlled from it's own panel. Overall, great cleaning bot! I am thrilled!! I will update after some time has passed on battery life and maintenance issues.
