As a former hairdresser I purchased this item to highlight my gray hair. I purchased the chestnut color over my dark brown hair. I would estimate I'm about 50% gray. I'm very happy with the way it highlighted my hair. Just a few tips to people who have had difficulty with the product. You must put it on very damp hair and wait at least 25 minutes. Rinse it with cool to lukewarm water and wait at least 24 hours before washing. Make sure you're using a gentle shampoo or you'll be stripping the color out faster. You could also add a little color to the shampoo once every 1 or 2 weeks to freshen the color and make it last longer.
