I ordered this canner bc I have an induction range stovetop. The bottom metal of the pot is much thicker, like a high quality sauce pan or 12in cast iron skillet. The outside bottom also is dimpled to aid heat distribution from the ceramic top of an electric range. I did a 7 pint jar test run and discovered that this canner with the new thicker bottom metal works as advertised! It is compatible with electric range. Once it was up to pressure at 15psi I turned the heat dial down to "3". After 5 minutes the canner pressure dropped to 13 psi. I turned the heat back to Hi. When the pressure was at 15psi again I turned the dial down to between 3 & 4 and waited 5 minutes. The canner held at 15psi so I started my timer. I watched the pressure gauge carefully bc induction ranges will cycle on and off but the needle never moved, held steady at 15psi. This canner is definitely induction range compatible, I'm very pleased with this canner and will recommend. Everything about it is high quality, the metal is thick, especially the bottom is extra thick. The lid, locking mechanism, gauge, handles are all heavy duty and high quality it will last a very long time, it's a great buy!
