My female border collie was born in April, 2016.. Her UTI problems started at around 3 months old. My vet started her on antibiotics..she would get better for a few days but the UTI always returned...My vet suggested that I take her to an internist. The internist took a cystocentesis urine culture which is needed to detect the type of bacteria you are dealing with and she took a live ultrasound to make sure all was normal with the bladder and kidneys. All was well with the ultrasound so the internist put her on an antibiotic and also told me to put her on a cranberry supplement, d-mannose supplement ( this helps to keep any bacteria from adhering to the bladder wall) and a probiotic. The good news... after one month on the correct antibiotic and the supplements ( the internist suggested we keep her on these for life) she is healthy! She is now 9 months old..I use the Amazing Cranberry Chews, D-Mannose ( 1/2 teaspoon 2x daily) and a probiotic..Just hoping that this information helps anyone having to deal with this...
