Nice bed - Even better with some DIY improvements
Bottom line: Good bed for the price. Better if you are willing to make some improvements to stability yourself.
Pros:
- Excellent price/value.
- Nice materials. Good quality.
- Easy to assemble solo in under an hour.
- Nice play/storage area under the bed.
- 7 year old son loves it!
Cons:
- The smell! It smells pretty bad at first. 2 days put together and still smells pretty bad.
- Pretty wobbly. (See below for my fixes)
- Instructions say ladder can go on either side. But the pieces didn't have the correct holes. (Fixed myself by making holes).
Issues I easily fixed myself:
- Wobbly: Purchased some L brackets and a straight bracket to brace each leg and Alan from the back to sides. This eliminated a lot of the wobbly feeling in the bed. Cost was less than $8 for everything at the hardware store.
- Ladder could only mount on left side despite directions. I was able to mount it on the right easily by modifying things a little bit. Pretty sure anyone with some common sense would be able to do it also.
Overall I am very happy with the bed. My son loves it and the price can't be beat. Do yourself a favor and buy the L braces to help with the shaking.
