I felt compelled to write a review, and that's not common for me. Let me start by saying I've owned a ton of vacuums, at 25 years old, probably more than I should. Before this one, a 40 dollar Walmart vacuum I swore was the best I'd ever owned, and the only one I'd ever own. Fast forward two years later. It pootered out. Somehow the filter got sucked into the hose or something. I don't know, I have a toddler, maybe she did it. Anyway, prior to that, I had the same vacuum 4 different times. It was also a Bissell. It was around the same price range as this, but no where near as good. Fast forward to now. I missed the sale for $70, but still got it for $81. Not bad at all. It is a lot bulkier than my $40 one, but it is amazing. No more complicated methods of dumping the crud out. And it is so quiet! My husband works shift work, so this is crucial, especially in a house with a 3 year old, a one year old, a cat, and two long hair dogs (a German Shepherd and a Collie). It vacuumed so well (and so much, literally, it filled the pail up with one sweep through on my living room *hooray dogs and toddler*) I had to vacuum a second time to be sure it didn't overfill. I vacuumed my sectional, the living room, the hallway, and the kitchen. This vacuum is the bomb. Happy momma!
