A touching and beautifully written book. I could not put it down, but read into the wee hours and with blurry vision. Several reviewers have already covered the storyline. I did know about the "blue people of Kentucky" but this exquisite story brings not only heartfelt prose to living history; it touches on and elaborates daily human strengths and suffering in a way that only good literature can. I love books about Appalachia and the hard scrabble families of the mountains and "hollers". Very highly recommended. I plan to follow this author.
