As soon as you turn it on, it works. It's very quiet, with the exception of the occasional glub/knock of water filling a void. The Essential Oil diffuser is easy to use and works well. The large tank lasts nearly all week with continuous night time usage (I don't run it during the day, but do 10+ hours at night). The humidifier made an immediate difference in our room, not only diffusing the oil but drastically increasing the humidity. My sleeping improved immediately and I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a new humidifier.
