FALSE ALARMS:
This alarm has been GREAT. There are some reviews complaining about false alarms. I can tell you that over a year of use we never get "False" alarms. Yes it does pick up the occasional animal however I attribute this to its sensitivity and that ours in angled slightly diagonal up an incline thus putting the animals in a perfect spot to be picked up. I do not believe any of our alarms are actually "false" per se.
BATTERY LIFE:
Some point during the winter it stopped picking up cars. I thought maybe it was frozen, wet, or the sensor was covered.....I trudged out in the snow after a few days of not working and pulled the sensor from its perch to examine. Nothing at all seemed to be askew. So I put new batteries in and it started working right away! lol....stupid me. Obviously the batteries are going to die at some point. I would say the 1st set lasted 7 months. right now we are on set 2 of batteries right now and 5 months in still working. I'm not sure if its the number of times it picks something up or just the constant drain from "sensing" things that uses the batteries. So I'm not sure if you have a very busy area if that will lessen your battery life. Im satisfied with 7 months if that stays consistent.
SIGNAL:
Our sensor is only about 200 feet from the base station so my experience is not going to help all that much. I'll say that it seems to be very strong and accurate even in the sub zero winter.
EXTRA SENSORS:
I am wiring this review because I realized I hadn't written one when I came back to this listing today to purchase 2 more sensors and another base station. I have full confidence the 2 new sensors will be great. What I am not sure of is how the second receiver/base station will work with the 1st. I'm assuming integration will be seamless. I'll try to edit my review after some experience with the new pieces.
