Pros and Cons
I have plenty to say about this Eufy HomeVac Lightweight Cordless! First of all, I am a vacuum fanatic. Every day I vacuum at least once if not twice a day. I have a shedding dog, hardwood floors, oriental rugs, white tile kitchen and laundry room, and a big yard that we track in from all day. My regular vacuum is a high price Miele. But who wants to drag out the big vacuum everyday? Hence, my years long love/hate relationship with cordless vacuums. I have now had 12 Shark cordless vacuums of different models beginning 15 years ago. They clean great- until the battery goes. That usually occurs after about one year. And the replacement isn't a whole lot less than a whole new one. I have high hopes for the Eufy battery since Anker (the manufacturer) produces batteries.
As for the down and dirty on the Eufy- Easy to put together, lightweight, easy to use and quieter than a Shark. Easier on your wooden floors
than a Shark. Long run time, and no problem charging. It doesn't have that horrendous continuous never shutting off blinking BRIGHT light for charging that the Shark has. The Eufy picks up as well if not better than the Shark. The light in front is super! It helps to show you what you missed or need to clean.
Now for the negatives: Do you have a dog? The centrifuge in middle of the dirt canister will collect and hold the hair. When you empty the
canister (smaller than the Shark's), you will have to take out the centrifuge and the little HEPA filter and clean them off by hand. That means touching the dirt and hair. The canister is easy to empty, but you WILL be cleaning that canister and filter each time if you want to do it right.
Another negative that really galls me is my call to customer service. I wanted to ask about the hair and dirt clinging to the centrifuge, but the agent freely stated that they didn't have this model in their office to look at and she didn't know anything about it since it was a newer product. She just told me to send it back. Wait! I don't want to send it back. I just wanted some information. I asked if there was someone else to
ask, but she said, No, just send an email. Seriously? So I sent an email, and I have not had a response. I'm cleaning it all and can't seem to find a way to NOT clean the mess from the centrifuge that spins around. I believe it is a design fault and will probably be rectified with the next model.
Essentially, it seems to be a good vacuum for my needs. You may need to empty it while cleaning to keep from overfilling the canister since it is fairly small. I will probably buy another one when I wear this Eufy out, but I hope the customer service improves as well as the other
problems.
AN ADDITION: RE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I was sent an offer to get any Eufy/Anker product up to 30.00, which I did- the Anker Power Core. I had one already and knew that it was a good product. My complaints were followed up on by a customer rep. who seemed anxious to insure my satisfaction. So far (here at the end of February) the Vacuum is still running well. The filter definitely needs some work as it is not easy to clean like the sponge one in other cordless vacuums. Still, the Eufy is a good product for a clean fiend like me.
