Firstly, I have been a huge advocate for the necessity of owning a carpet cleaner with upholstery attachment long before having kids because I am a bit of a clean freak.......okay more than a “bit”. I use my carpet cleaner biweekly but not on the same areas around the house I rotate so I have time to accomplish other household chores. I have 5 kids, 1 grandchild and two dogs living in my house and did I mention I live in AZ so lots of dirt!! I love how much easier it is to clean the brushes, THANK YOU!! But the reason I took a star off is because the dirty water tank was made so cumbersome to empty and clean. Firstly what do they expect you to grip properly while taking off the lid and pouring? Then they put a lip all around the dirty water tank so when rinsing out the sediment and hair you have to watch out for it sticking there. And an issue all carpet cleaner manufacturers keep forgetting to fix is “cover all screws near water”, these get so rusted and covered in hair......ewwww! Now the hand tool for upholstery has these clever silicon scrubbers instead of bristles which is fantastic for not damaging your nice couch and chair fabrics. My old Hoover Dual Action carpet cleaner went through way more water and cleaner than this machine, obviously I was over administering than needed using the trigger design, which is common with clean freaks because all we see is dirt EVERYWHERE! Finally I must mention why I go with Hoover because I was a house cleaner in my younger years and I have seen time and time again which brands offer certain attributes, Hoover can handle a lot of demanding work for a long period of time. On average a Hoover Carpet cleaner lasts me 5-6 years and I expect this new one to last longer because my new ability to clean it better for maintenance. (Keeping it clean is key to having it last!) The Bissell I owned with just two kids and no dogs lasted 1.5 years so why would I waste money on a “chance” Bissell has improved when I am happy with Hoover. Oh I hope Hoover reads this and considers fixing the above issues on their next model upgrades!! 😉
