Amazing BUT Has Some Flaws.
These Mumi&Bubi trays are incredible. I've been using them for over 3 months now. They work so much better than the silicone baby food trays that I have tried. People complain about the cubes of food not easily coming out...this is not an issue for me. I've made a habit out of removing these trays from the freezer and immediately taking off the lid and running the back side under hot water. I quickly pass the hot water across each cube one time, then I immediately pop the cubes out. I have had zero issues with cubes being stuck or hard to remove. I simply press down on the side of each semi-circle in the tray and then pour them into a Ziploc freezer bag. PROS: --------------------------------------------------- •Makes homemade baby food easier. •Large capacity. 42 semi-circles. Though I need multiple sets because I make my food in large batches. For example 10 bananas will make 52oz of baby puree. So you may need multiple sets if you plan on making large batches of food. •Each cube is exactly 1oz. This makes tracking how much my baby eats a breeze. •Trays have a large lip to prevent spills/overflow. •Small, compact design takes up minimal space in freezer. Even when stacked they have a very low profile. •These stack securely. They won't slide off of each other. •BPA Free. A must. •Absolutely no issues with staining. Even with carrots and berries. •Plastic trays are very thick and durable. The lids are another story. •Plastic is transparent and easy to see what's inside. CONS: -------------------------------------- •The biggest issue I have with these trays is the semi-circle size. I have yet to find a baby food container that these cubes fit into. I currently use OXOtot Baby Blocks and Ball 4oz baby jars. Instead what I have to do is defrost/microwave a few "cubes" of food in a separate bowl and then transfer the puree into the baby food container. This is a big hassle considering I need to prepare my daughters food for her daycare everyday. It's just an extra step that I really don't need as a busy mom. •The price for these trays is borderline outrages considering you likely will need multiple sets. •The lid is anything but secure. The lid basically just lays on top of tray. The lid is also very flimsy and thin. •You cannot store food in this for any longer than 24 hours, unless you like ice crystals and freezer burn. These claim to work for storage for up to 2 weeks but because the lid does not seal or even close tightly this isn't something I would recommend. •Washing these is a little bit of a pain. Because of the semi-circle shape, washing these by hand will cause water to drench you and your counters. Or if I throw them in the dishwasher they take up the ENTIRE top rack. Not a big deal, just annoying. A FEW TIPS: -------------------------------------------- •Food will expand once frozen. So make sure not to overfill the cubes..it will make the lid freeze to the food. Fill just a hair below the semi-circle being full. •Also, you don't want the semi-circles you plan on storing to defrost at all. If they defrost even a little, the semi-circles will stick together in the Ziploc bag and also get a lot of ice crystals. Overall, I really love these trays. But I do have a hard time recommending them because the price is so high and they are far from perfect.
