initial impression is very good
A huge step up from my microwave/hood combo, if you have one of those trust me you do want to switch to a quality hood. I know it is nice to have the microwave off the counter but even the best ones make terrible vent hoods. The quality is impressive. The baffle filters are what restaurants use, not that crummy aluminum mesh junk. The baffles channel all the grease back to a large trough in the back that is easy to remove and drain. The fan housings each have a tube that drains into the trough as well. The trough is stainless steel as well but has a little window so you can see the oil level. I installed it by myself but I do recommend you get help. As others have said, test it thoroughly before you install it. The noise level on low is OK, I would prefer the low peed to be even lower though. Low would handle most cooking just fine. High is fairly loud but you would have no problem with cooking anything that was really smoky, e.g. stir fry or onion rings. There are 6 speeds to choose from. The venting options are great, it includes hardware to change it any vent configuration. Most hoods do not have this flexibility. This was a main selling point for me as I already had a horizontal rectangular vent from my microwave/range hood. The lights work OK but they are a warm white and have a narrow beam. For cooking I like really bright daylight bulbs with a wide beam for even lighting so I bought these and they work great. However you really have to push up hard on them to get them to fit. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07KF65L1Q/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The baffles are protected by white plastic that must be carefully peeled off, expect to spend 20 minutes just doing this.
