Childrens ATM toy PROS/CONS- NOT PAID REVIEW
This was a really cool unique gift for my 5 year old girls birthday. Lets just be real before I review this. This is a child's toy...Let me emphasize "TOY". I see many reviews about the sophistication level based on the price yada yada yada. But I will be honest on the pros and cons in detail in case you are very serious about this "toy" being a banking system for your home. ;-) The toy I purchase is the gray/silver/black one. I chose this because it seemed more 'realistic' and I thought that might add to the excitement for my daughter. Which, it did. The directions were very clear. I have had it 2 months and it has had not problems. I do not feel like it is cheaply made. When my daughter received it as a gift, all the adults wanted to play with it. However, it is NOT a gift for adults. This toy would be suitable for 5-10 giving a little give and take based on the child's personality. I have read a few reviews about the 'price' for this.... This is my opinion.....How many toys do children receive that have little educational or life skills being taught? Yes, I know you can make any toy educationally. But we spend lots of money on video games, boxes of plastic toys that get thrown out by next year. Teaching life skills and money management at a young age is such a terrific thing. It may not be an exact replica of an ATM but either is Barbie an exact replica of a womans body. (Ill stop now lol) Pros: *Clock with 12/24 hour format and alarm *Savings target setting *Comes with an ATM card *When you deposit bills it sucks it the money instead of you just sliding it in. *Keeps a balance of your money in your ATM *Children get to create and enter their own PIN number *You CAN change the PIN number *You can make deposits and withdrawls * You can deposit bills and coins *You can check your balance *You CAN turn the sound off (YAY) *You can reset the entire ATM and start fresh if you forget the PIN or the machine freezes ( My daughters has not had any issues) * It can detect what coins you are depositing based on the size of the coin going into the coin slot. Cons: (Disclaimer: This is a toy and these cons do not necessarily bother me nor do I think they are personally considered 'cons' but in case you want the nitty gritty and want to run an officially bank out of your living room. ) *Any card in the shape of an ATM card will work on this machine so if you think hiding the card will prevent security breeches your are going to be disappointed. However, if you lose the ATM card this is a positive because a cardboard credit card you get in junk mail works great. *If you deposit coins when the machine is not on it will not calculate them and your balance will not be accurate. * When you withdrawal money, you enter in the amount you want to withdrawal and then you open up a bottom compartment. So you could say you are taking out a dollar and really take out 20 and the machine would never know because you reach into the pot of money to withdrawal. *Like above said, the withdrawal isn't as cool as the deposit. It doesn't dispense money. *When you deposit bills you have to enter in the amount you are asking the machine to suck in. It cannot differentiate between a 1 dollar and 10 dollar bill. So you will have to help your child. *****MADE IN CHINA****** :( Bought For: 5 year old girl-Birthday present I did NOT get this free or at a promotional discount.
