The instructions don't tell you that you can remove the light from its bracket FIRST and then install the bracket by itself; Afterwards, you can re-attach the light. I'll post some photos to illustrate what I mean. Other than that, the light is bright, has an adjustable sensitivity to motion, adjustable time duration that the light is on, and adjustable degree of darkness you want the light to turn on in. It works well so far. In the photos 1) that "flower-like" nut can come off completely. There are two of them. Take them both off but be careful as there is a small washer there when you take them off. 2) You will notice the washer has a rough side and a smooth side. The rough side faces the inside of the "flower-shaped" nut. The smooth side should face towards the light itself. 3) You can then attach the bracket by itself to your wall or other surface. 4) Then reattach the light after the bracket is installed. Update (June 30, 2018): Both lights are still working very well and survived several New York winters outside. Had them up since October 2014. I have since bought a third one.
