This 'New' reissue is (in my opinion) better than the previous Simon reissue (the touch based version) released a few years back. Also, forget Simon Swipe and the recently made Simon Air. All of those previous games have issues of not responding to touches and gestures. THIS is what you are looking for. Simple button presses. Let me explain why this is better. If you grew up through the 80's then Simon was probably a part of your childhood. As an adult I still love this game. This particular unit is a retro/modernized version. All the original sounds from the classic 1978 Simon from Milton Bradley are here. But there are some differences. The unit itself is smaller, sleeker and lighter. It feels a bit 'cheap', yet durable. Now with the game itself, and this is what makes the reissue actually BETTER than the original. The original from 78' had 1 game mode (copy the randomized pattern) but with 3 difficulties with a set number of patterns. The patterns would increase with speed. So the original could be 'won' or 'beaten'. With this version, the same 1 game mode is included (simple and sweet), however the patterns are now endless and it is now played for high score, providing endless replay value. Finally, the game has three volume levels and a silent mode, perfect if you don;t want to disturb family members. In an ages of tablets and smart phones, it's nice to have this throwback to a time of much simpler electronics.
