Feels about the same to type on as the Sidekick 4G - if you liked the feeling of that keyboard, then I'd recommend this for you. I think some people might also dislike the feeling of this keyboard however, because you might expect to slide your thumbs around and type quickly like some older keyboarded phones - like the blackberry phones or the nokia n900 - but instead the buttons here require a slightly harder press that will slow your thumbs down. Now I'll discuss why this is a 5 star device: it is extremely good for the type of device it is, its features and its bluetooth functionality. I use this to essentially remote-control an extra android phone that sits at the far edge of my desk. Over a period of 6 months, I used this to: 1. switch on the phone, 2. unlock the screen -click the left mouse button from the bottom and drag upwards using the touchpad- 3. check the weather. This works every time. In fact it surprised me at one point when I had not been home for two weeks and did my whole routine again! When it requires charging, its LED indicator will let you know. When you use the touchpad, the whole keyboard will light up, and that's quite handy for finding the ESC button which is Screen-Off on an android device. And the backlight works every time. Battery life, as you might infer from my use case, is excellent; if you're used to other rechargeable wireless peripherals such as mice and headphones, you'll truly appreciate how seldom you have to charge this. It has to reconnect when you leave it alone for 5 minutes, but, who wouldn't expect that at this price? The battery is one of its selling points, it delivers. And about the touchpad - it has a learning curve that, once you get used to it, also makes the device excellent. At first I wanted to use it like a laptop's touchpad, doing taps and two-finger gestures - and this device allows it. Then, noticing that it is laggy to do those things, I instead switched to using my thumb - and the layout on this devices also allows it and in fact makes it the easiest thing. The touchpad's finish isn't great for sliding your finger on it, but it is *durable*, which means you use your fingernail or thumbnail to help with sliding - and it always works. The plastics around the whole device feel quality. The backside (or, underside) has a textured spot for grip, it's subtle yet it works. The buttons on the keyboard are solid but also have a rubberized finish, and they don't bend or wobble at all, it's a very solid feeling. The rest of the device's shell is a plastic that also has some rubberized finish. Overall the build quality makes it feel great to hold. Finally I should mention that every key you'd expect to find on a PC keyboard is present. It's reassuring to know you can always use this product as a backup input device. The Rii Mini i8+ is a quality product describable by the phrase "works as advertised", though probably exceeding that description too. I'm very glad that amazon sells it.
