First impression out of the box. Not the most attractive boot but light in my hands. The sides are mix of leather and fabric. Not sure how they are waterproof. I'm normally a 9 but do buy 9 1/2 for running shoes. I got these in 9 1/2 due to the mix reviews. My last pair sorel boots were a 9, my toes touched the tip and my feet were always cold. These I can wiggle my toes in them. My feet are wide and these feel comfortable right away. The very bottom is rubber. When I step I can feel a bit of a give - comfy. My heel does feel a little lose but with the way they tie it could be a given with this type boot. Thicker socks would help. The tong on them is connected to the sides half way up (a positive). I'm walking in my kitchen and I'm making a lot noise. I got these boots for playing in the snow, shoveling and picking up dog poop in Wisconsin winter. Hope the pictures help. Plus the bottoms are truly rubber and not a plastic like some.
