Great fix for a broken valve, but....
Great fix for a broken black tank valve. But, as others have stated, it comes off pretty easy. Just taking off the cap will turn the valve enough to come off. You must be very careful taking off the cap, and the hose. I have a broken black valve, in the open position, so if the valve came off during dumping, I will be cleaning up for quite a while. I decided to make sure it will not come off until I said so. Look at the pictures to see the fix. The plastic nubs are on the trailer side, and I drilled 1/16" holes in the clamp locks on the valve. (see picts) I drilled the holes so they would be very close to the plastic nubs. I used a hand drill and drilled straight and slow. I went to the hardware store and bought some very small safety clips, 1/16" in diameter. I installed the valve and put the safety clips in and the valve will not come off now. You have to remove the clips. I will probably secure the clips with a couple of wraps of duct tape, just to make sure they do not work out. This worked very good, and the cost was just a few dollars.
