I have searched (and purchased) many cat fountains over the years....plastic, stainless steel, ceramic, etc........none have really measured up in all areas. Where one was stylish, or functional, it would lack in filtration or power or something else. The latest I tried developed green slime/algae/bacteria???....in a long section where it was difficult to clean; just disgusting......but I digress.... This fountain ticks all the boxes: Attractive, quiet (99.9% on that), easy to refill, and the most important....only a couple moving parts and a BREEZE to clean!! There is a standard pump and two pieces make up the neck of the "faucet". My cat is almost 20 years old and has always been a "sink drinker", but finally wasn't able to hop from the toilet to the sink and back down anymore. My husband and I were getting sleep deprived due to the 6 or 7 "water calls" in the middle of the night, lol! So, we decided to try this one. I specifically looked for a bit of height at the drinking spout and/or where he could stand OR sit comfortably to drink without craning his arthritic neck and legs to do it. Success! He also drinks from the pool just below the fountain.....I am able to pour my filtered water straight into the drinking pool and the overflow fills the reservoir without having to take anything apart. My kitty took to this fountain immediately! I set it up next to his old one and he chose the new one...no adjustment period is an added plus! So, I would highly recommend this pet fountain to anyone looking for a quality product which is not only healthy for your pet, but also a very attractive design. It is ALMOST silent.....depending on water level, I can sometimes hear a slight trickle but barely noticeable. I give this one 5 stars!
