Sangean Finally Got It Right
For the past 4 years I've had a Sangean PR-D5. I loved the radio but it had some shortcomings. The PR-D15 is the upgraded version of the PR-D5, and I believe Sangean did a great job addressing those shortcomings. The new version has a carrying handle. This is huge. I dropped my PR-D5 several times because it did not have a handle. I can't believe this wasn't part of the original design. Another great upgrade is it has a built in battery charger. I use rechargeable batteries and found it inconvenient to have to remove the batteries and recharge them in a separate charger. In the PR-D15 that's no longer an issue. All you have to do is plug in the radio and the batteries will recharge inside the radio. A red indicator light will blink while the batteries are recharging, and will turn red when they are fully charged. The radio also has separate treble and bass controls so you can adjust the sound to your personal preferences. There is also a signal strength indicator on the LCD screen. The strength is displayed in bars. Sangean also included a fine tune control. If you're trying to pull in a distant station, you can fine tune the dial in smaller increments to get a clear signal.
The PR-D15 is more expensive than the PR-D5, but for the upgrades I think it is definitely worth the extra money. Overall it's a fantastic radio and I would highly recommended it.
