I came to this immersion blender set after experiencing a catastrophic failure with another set that was made by an economy appliance maker who shall remain nameless. While blending and using the chopper attachment, their cheap polyethylene gears melted and the unit seized up. All I was making was hummus. I got this because of some of the reviews and my personal expectations of what these things should cost; this one was at the intersection of enough good reviews and a price that wouldn’t cause me any remorse. It was a great decision!!! This thing powers through hummus, dips, stews, fruit and berries for jams, nuts and everything else I’ve thrown at it. My tomato plants were so scared of this thing that they leaned away from the house the day it arrived. Using it is nice. It’s comfortable enough. I have really big hands and *always* find handheld appliance controls a little awkward and this was no different than any other. But, this thing does not feel flimsy at all, in fact I really like the steel construction and weight to it. Given the price and what you get, I feel really good about this one. I don’t expect all of the accessories to last as long as the blender itself, but it’s been a year of constant use and everything still seems pretty new. If you’re on the fence, this is one experienced cook saying go for it :)
