Nice cart! Make you own deck and shelf
I really like this cart especially after adding my own decking and shelf...(see my photos) it is very sturdy and you can adjust the length to your needs, I use mine for location photo shoots where I need to take a substantial amount of equipment. I only use the length I need to take care of the equipment I usually take and that will fit easily into hotel elevators.
I made my own floor deck with a single piece of 1/2 plywood cut to the size with padded rubber walkway covering. I made it 24" wide and it is a slip-in slip-out setup... gravity and the load keep it in place. Do Not Buy the optional shelving from Rock and Roller. (read the reviews!) It us about 6" narrower and I think a waste of money. I bought it and then realized what a bad design it was and returned it. My self made decking only cost me about $18 and is wider and super easy in and out.
I also wanted and bought the optional shelf. This is also a really stupid design that is a total pain in a** to setup.(read the reviews) I wanted something simple, lightweight, easy to setup and tear down and pack-up. How they came up with their design I can't imagine because the cart is so practical, you would expect the accessories to be as well... but they are not. My "Simple Shelf" is all I want it to be. If I could weld I would not need their shelf kit at all, but I can't. I was able to use their support bars and by turning them 90 degrees and adding a horizontal support between each handle (12" threaded rod with a piece of copper pipe I had to cover the threads) I made a quick on, quick off top shelf... held totally in place by gravity. Having the shelf setup also really makes the cart feel and respond better as it eliminates the slack in the handles, and holds them solidly.
I have test drove this with over 200lbs all over my home and yard with some rough terrain and the added width on the deck and all the slip-on slip-off shelving did not budge.
I am willing to bet that this type of setup would satisfy the needs of most cart buyers and certainly make setup and transporting much easier.
I almost give this 5 stars. The workmanship on the cart is not the slickest but it is OK. I did cut my finger on a burr on a weld while putting the wheels on, and without the shelving the handles feel very sloppy with a lot of play in them. I also think tubular instead of square tube construction would be better and more bungie cord friendly.
Recommend: The carts! (I also have the Mini)
Don't recommend: The deck and shelf kits (unless you need the shelf support bars and can't make your own)
