Excellent, But You Need To Know...
This is an excellent product and will work instantly for most people, since most people are only mildly magnesium deficient! You may have a moderate or severe deficiency without realizing it, and may need to apply this consistently for several days or longer before getting the same prevention results, but it will stop any cramping you get in the meantime almost as quickly as you apply it! If you get leg cramps after consuming most types of chocolate, or several servings of dairy products in a day, or during/after excercizing or walking--you are probably more than just mildly deficient. You may also be more than mildly deficient if you take calcium supplements or a daily vitamin containing calcium. Calcium and magnesium work together in the body--calcium makes muscles contract, and magnesium makes muscles relax, so when there is not enough magnesium to offset the consumption of calcium, muscles contract but seize into a cramp because there isn't enough magnesium present for the muscle to relax again. At first glance the instructions appear to be to apply 4 pumps of this product, but then it says to do so twice a day--so it would seem to recommend a total of 8 pumps per day. If you've only used 2 pumps a day, or only use it occasionally or only when actually experiencing a cramp, it may not work well for you at preventing cramps, since there is a cumulative effect to using topical applications and taking magnesium supplements, and magnesium can be difficult for people to absorb and utilize once they've become moderately or severely deficient. Once your magnesium level has been boosted to an adequate level, however, a lesser amount of this product would be required to maintain that level that prevents cramps. (See: reply to 1-star reviewer "Was Hopeful" for more information about magnesium deficiency, cramps, supplements, and the appropriate medical test for it, since a blood test is NOT sufficient for determining whether deficiency is present or not.)
There are many products providing topical forms of magnesium, but this product is far easier and nicer to use than others I've tried, and I've tried most of what is on the market, including oils, creams, and lotions. This product absorbs quickly, leaving virtually no residue. Other products have left my skin feeling oily and greasy, with a really creepy sensation as if my skin had become rubbery on the surface and had remained wet and sticky, even after the product had been absorbed. Many also sting the skin and leave a gritty salt residue behind, and many products also recommend rinsing the grit and residue off after giving the skin 30 minutes to absorb the magnesium. Theraworx is vastly superior to other products in this respect, and I'd been surprised by how quickly it absorbed and that my skin felt normal and just slightly softer after it had, with no sting, no salt grit, and no creepy residue remaining. Nice!!! Really Nice!!!
I tend to become low on magnesium rather frequently, so I've needed to take an oral supplement for many years, and also keep magnesium supplements next to my bed in case I have trouble getting to sleep (yes, that is another symptom of deficiency--being tired enough to sleep but your mind seems wide awake and busy, as if on a hamster wheel loop) or if leg/foot cramps wake me in the night. My "go to" supplement to get to sleep or resolve night cramps had been a Phillips Milk of Magnesia half-caplet or a whole caplet or more, depending on how severe the cramps were and if they recurred, because the Phillips work in 2-5 minutes for me without fail, but almost any oral magnesium supplement or tablet will work fairly quickly. I now use this before bed, and seldom ever get cramps at night, but keep this next to my bed, just in case I do. Great as oral supplements are, the GI tract isn't so great at absorbing the bulk of it, hence their efficacy as being laxatives too. That being all too often an unwanted and highly undesirable effect of all oral supplements, whether chelated or not, it really IS wonderful to be able to find a very pleasant, fast absorbing, foam topical product I can use daily now to help keep my magnesium level topped up a degree better now, with far less risk of there being a laxative effect. It's also easier than resorting to 30-minute soaks in a bath laced with a cup of magnesium flakes daily for a week, and definitely better than running the risk of becoming so low and resistant to absorbing magnesium as to require a medically supervised IV drip supplement, or of suffering a cardiac event, instead.
Chocolate, even a tiny bit of it, is the most reliable trigger of leg or foot cramps for me if I'm low on magnesium--sometimes shortly after consuming it, but most likely later when sleeping. Dairy products can sometimes be a trigger too. Cramps, however, are at least an obvious symptom of magnesium deficiency, but it also plays a less obvious but very significant role in far more serious medical conditions, including sleep problems, diabetes, heart disease, heart attacks, depression, restless leg syndrome, and many other medical issues, so it is not good at all to be deficient in it.
If Theraworx hasn't worked to prevent cramps for you after using it properly and consistently for several days, you might be moderately or severely deficient in magnesium, and it may take using it daily for a somewhat longer period consistently to boost your levels enough to prevent cramps, but it should be effective at stopping whatever cramps you may experience in the meantime, if you apply enough of it. If you don't get prevention results after regular use, however, you may need to see an endocrinologist who specializes in magnesium deficiency and have a buccal swab (cheek swab) test performed to determine if you are so dangerously deficient that your body can no longer absorb magnesium properly, because severe magnesium deficiency is nothing to mess around with, and very serious.
For most people, Theraworx will work great right away and will keep working to both help prevent cramps if used regularly or to instantly stop any cramps that occur if only needed on an occasional basis. And, for those people who already take magnesium supplements for deficiency or to deal with leg, foot, hand, or other cramps, Theraworx is a pleasant means of boosting one's magnesium levels a bit higher, without also running the risk of increasing magnesium's laxative effect. For that, alone, it deserves all 5 stars and more stars, too!
