I have an old slipcovered denim sectional. It was the perfect purchase 13 years ago with 3 small kids with the thought that when the kids got older & the slipcovers were over & done with, I could always purchase new covers and it would be like having a new couch. WRONG! Lesson #1: Look into the cost of replacing the slipcover at the time of purchase - You'll be surprised at how much it will cost you! Here I am 13 years later and the denim is faded & stained. I have tried washing and dying the slipcovers in the washing machine, but still it was never quite right. When I went to price out how much it would be to replace it (from the manufacturer - Rowe Furniture) I was SHOCKED to find out that to replace the slipcovers would cost me $2,000!!! YES - SERIOUSLY TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS!!! And that I couldn't purchase it from Rowe directly, I had to go to a box furniture store and pay the premium... For that amount I could buy an entirely new sofa and call it a day. But alas, the money is not there.... So I came across this product. I will say this, it was EASY to use and the color is fantastic. Does it cost more that the regular Rid Dye? Yes, by far. However, there is less hassel with making sure that no dye has stained your machine and the application is 1-2-3. The color is much deeper looking, and although is won't cover all stains, it certainly was the best "middle of the road" solution for the time being. Don't underestimate how much you will use. I know it sounds like a lot, but it will be approximately 1 can for 1 cushion (front, back & all 4 sides). I have 13 cushions + 2 arms (corner of sofa has 1 seat with 2 corner backs) and in total I needed 12 cans. $140 to get me through the next few months was well worth it until I can figure out what to do with the sofa.
