I purchased opt7’s LED kit because of the cool red design of the kit
This review is compared to $150 HID kits that I’ve installed on my cars and this opt7 LED headlight kit.
In all honesty, I purchased opt7’s LED kit because of the cool red design of the kit. I wanted some flash under the hood and I have no regrets with this purchase. The kit arrived in its own sturdy box and everything seemed well thought out. The bulbs are aluminum red and has some nice weight to it. They’re very unique looking.
Installation was very simple. I just removed the old bulb, put in the LED bulb and then connect to the headlight bulb socket. Very straight forward.
At one point, I turned one of them on before putting them in the headlight and this little thing is bright!
You can hear the fans humming away to keep the bulbs cool which I thought was interesting. Times are a changing. Good thing is that I can’t hear the fans from inside my car.
What I liked most about this kit was that it had far less components and wiring than my previous HID kits. Aside from the bulb itself, everything else looks clean and small. There was no need to hide additional wiring harness or a ballast like I would an HID kit. Installation took no longer than a few minutes.
As far as longevity is concerned, I have no doubt that LEDs will outlast HID. I’ve replaced HID kits one after another only to realize their brightness comes at the cost of reliability. So I’m not too concerned about this going out, but I’ll keep updating this as time progresses.
