I purchased this scale and it arrived a few days ago. I didn't want another digital scale...sick of the battery issue. This is a hefty scale that has a good capacity. But like others I was disappointed with the needle color. It IS hard to see. So I fixed it. It was VERY easy...took one or two minutes. If you look at the plastic cover over the dial you can see that it's held in place by 4 tabs. Get two very thin, small standard screwdrivers. I used a couple of very small screwdrivers I had laying around. Jewelers screwdrivers might work too but I'm not certain. Very gently slide the screwdrivers on opposite tabs and kind of push the tabs in while at the same time prying gently up. The whole thing should pop out very easily. You don't need to do all four, just two on opposite sides. The needle is now exposed. I took some of my wife's red fingernail polish and painted the skinny part of the needle red. Put the plastic back on making sure that the tabs are lined up with the slots and push back on. Voila!
