I bought this as an alternative to spending over a thousand dollars on a concept 2. I have rowed for years and my only experience was with concept 2 ergs. So how does this compare? Pretty well actually, would i put an entire team on it all day for practice? Probably not but for individual use at my house, this thing is solid. The max weight is 300 lbs it looks plenty solid enough to hold that. The slide is very smooth the water drive is pretty quiet especially when compared to the fan on a concept 2. Even though its not totally silent the noise is almost pleasant. I wouldn't hesitate to put a competitive rower on it and let them go for their personal best. I'm several years gone away from my peak fitness so I'm not trying to put down sub 7 min 2ks but at the same time I'm 220 lbs and can still pull pretty hard this hold my weight no problem it doesn't flex or grind it feels smooth through the entire stroke. The water at its highest level doesn't feel like its as much resistance as a concept 2 on level 10 but its more than adequate to simulate on water rowing with a bit extra. I'm 5'11" i think anyone over 6' 2" would probably run out of slide before you're done with your stroke. Overall this is a great product that i would recommend to anyone who is looking for a solid rowing machine but doesn't have the budget for a Concept 2. I will post updates after the first 30 days of use and again after that if my opinion changes for any reason.
