iWalk2.0 Almost Perfect!
I purchased the iWalk2.0 through Amazon prior to my recent ankle tendon surgery on June 1st. I practiced with unit before having surgery done. I have been using the iWalk2.0 extensively daily since my cast was put on after 2nd week into recovery. I have been able to do many tasks around the house easily when using the unit, including vacuuming inside, vacuuming pool, food prep, going to training meetings, etc. It is an innovative design, but could use a few improvements. Many of the medical professionals I have met have never seen or heard of the iWalk2.0, so I always show them the YouTube video on my smart phone! (linked on Amazon site) Here are (2) product improvements suggestions for the iWalk2.0 I submitted to manufacturer.: (see attached pics) (1) Middle Strap- I have found this to be the most important strap to have firmly adjusted and secured, however this causes chaffing to inside of knee when used for active jobs for any period of time. There needs to be an additional chaffing sleeve around strap to prevent this. I made a makeshift chaffing sleeve with a short piece of pipe insulation from Home Depot. (see pic) (2) Bottom Clamp Bolt & Nut- It was VERY difficult to get threads started when assembling iWalk2.0. The 6mm clamp bolt provided is too short and nut eventually vibrated off. Luckily, I caught it before unit failed while using it. I replaced nut with a 6mm wing nut from Lowes. This fastener needs to be improved for easier and more secure attachment without loosening. Use Instructions- I would add to the manual a Warning that steep Ramps and Inclines can be very dangerous using the iWalk2.0 and should NOT be traversed!
