This is a nifty little trimmer that I bought for one use only: to trim the 6 little boxwoods in my foundation plantings. I shape them into orbs, slightly bigger than basketballs. I wanted a small, hand-held trimmer to provide the exacting shaping I'm looking for. No matter how many angles I applied, or trimming techniques used (back-and-forth, up-and-down, jabbing), this trimmer just won't cut the leaves at the surface. Perhaps if I were interested in hacking at the boxwoods, the trimmer's cutting ability might be put to better use. But for just trimming the surfaces, this thing is useless. I didn't try using the grass-trimming attachment, so I can't speak to how that works. I will say the unit seems well-made. It just doesn't fit the bill for my job. 7/6/16 update: I originally rated this trimmer 2 stars, for the reasons cited earlier. However, I would now like to rate it 4 stars. Here's why: The only task I bought this for was to do fine trimming on 6 boxwoods planted in front of my house. The trimmer attachment was non-effective. I then tried the grass trimmer attachment and the trimmer worked very well! I would not have guessed that the grass trimmer would do such a good job trimming boxwoods. My apologies on the original review. I would also add that Sun Joe customer service contacted me, unsolicited, and essentially offered to do whatever it would take to make me happy. The company ended up being more impressive than the product.
