I had heard stories passed from one mechanic to the next of these mythical beings. The fabled 10 mm socket... I have seen single ones before... Only briefly. One minute it's on my ratchet, the next simply gone.. never to be seen again. I would then half destroy the fastener with a channel locks or a vice grips in a vain attempt to remove it. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I would find an entire family of the creatures. I've been fooled before so I half expected an empty box to arrive. Much to my surprise two to three days later they were here. I spent the first week with them still in the packaging, afraid that with their first hint of freedom they would flee like all the rest... I very cautiously eased them into their new surroundings. A battery change here, a bad ac compressor there... They are slowly acclimating to their new home. Right now I keep them in sight at all times. I have not as of yet let them sleep in the tool box with the others. Maybe eventually. I am cautiously optimistic that they have accepted me as one of their own. Maybe, just maybe they feel like they have truly found a home... Only time will tell
