Just Fine!
I bought this oven because it was $20 cheaper than the comparable Cuisineart oven. It had decent reviews so I took the plunge. After lining the bottom and the crumb drawer with nonstick foil (for that inevitable future accident) I promptly whipped up a pan of Jiffy cornbread. Shockingly, it came out perfect! Emboldened by my success, I fired it up later that evening to employ my new "One Cookie" tactic, which involves me keeping ready made cookie dough in the freezer and baking- you guessed it- only one cookie. Putting my one little ball of cookie dough on parchment, I turned on the oven and slid the tray in. Parchment immediately started turning black and smoking. Rookie mistake! In my eagerness to get the cookie in my belly, I didn't take into account that ALL ovens will go into incineration mode to preheat quickly. Now I employ a bit of patience and wait 5 minutes for the oven to preheat before throwing in the cookie(s). No, the one cookie plan doesn't always work, but the good news is that I can only cook 3 cookies max on the sheet. 3 big cookies :-)
So, down to the nitty gritty:
Looks like a decent quality toaster oven so I don't feel like I have to move it in and out of my cupboards to combat cheap toaster shame.
It preheats quickly and cooks evenly.
Can't even hear the convection fan whirring away- which is excellent in my book.
The timer ticks a bit and is a little stiff to turn, which makes me a bit concerned about it wearing out prematurely, but I'll publish that in an update if/when it happens.
It doesn't get overly hot in the counter, so having it to keep my south Texas kitchen cooler in the summer is working quite well.
I'm over 50 and need glasses for everything that involves small print/low light, but I can see the numbers and symbols on the knobs just fine.
Also it is not a big deal to turn the knob past 20 to start the timer. Really, people? What has this world come to? If that is going to bother your wimpy urban wrists, get a digital oven, for heaven's sakes.
All in all, I'm QUITE pleased with my energy saving little oven.
