Seriously a miracle for my little daughter!
My daughter has had sinus infections from the time she was three years old. She was on antibiotics every two months for several years. Her pediatrician referred her out to an ENT for surgical evaluation when she was six (YIKES)! The doctor took a look at everything and said her adenoids were big, and she would probably need those out along with sinus surgery. She stopped and asked, "You have tried sinus rinses, right?" I thought, "Yes, right lady. A six year old is really going to squirt salt water up her nose." I didn't say that, I just told her no. She knew I was freaked out about the possibility of surgery for my daughter. She told me to get a NeilMed sinus rinse. She said it was easier than Netipot because you don't have to hold your head at a weird angle. She told me to give it a try over the next three months and we would see what happened.
I almost didn't do it thinking there was no way in the world a simple sinus rinse would have prevented years worth of sinus infections, and SO MANY rounds of antibiotics. However, I was so afraid of the surgery (i've heard horrible things about sinus surgery and didn't want my six year old to go through it), that I bought two. One for me, and one for her. I tried it with her in the room watching me and explained what I was doing. I COULD NOT believe the stuff that came out of my nose that I had no idea was even up there!! Ewwww!
She happened to be in the middle of a cold (coming up on 20 days), and I asked her to try it for the next week. I figured if it didn't work, we'd go back on antibiotics and then have the surgery. After her FIRST try, she blew her nose, sniffed and said, "Aahhhhhh, I can BREATHE!!!" So, even though she didn't like it, she did it because it made her feel so much better. Guess what!! That cold cleared up on its own! I know it won't prevent fever or colds, but if it prevents her from having to go on antibiotics or getting surgery, then I'm in! It's been 4 years. FOUR YEARS! She has had at least 40 colds (immune system deficiency we found out), and not a single time has she had to go on antibiotics.
So, if you are on the fence, and having sinus issue, PLEASE just give it a try. I also have had sinus issues my whole life, and haven't had to go on antibiotics since I started using this.
The only downside, it is kind of annoying to wash because there are so many steps. Wash with soap, rinse, wash with regular water, rinse. Then, rinse again with bottled water to make sure there aren't any tiny bacteria still. Then, microwave to be sure. I get freaked out about the whole brain eating amoeba thing, so I do follow all of the washing instructions and use bottled water. I know people who don't though.
