I'd waited quite a while to review this one because I wanted to offer something substantial as to whether or not this device works. I've had it and used it for about 9 months now and can say without a doubt (at least for me) it works. I am very fair with super dark hair so that does increase the efficacy of such devices. I was immediately able to tolerate the "5" setting which seems to work quicker and is more effective than the lower settings. I've also found the pulses to range from barely noticeable to a vague sting (shaving just before helps) but I know this varies widely from person to person. I can do both legs and my underarms in less than 30 minutes. I do find that after a while the head gets a bit hot and the pulses get a bit more intense feeling. At that point, I just turn the device off and let it sit for 5 or 10 minutes and then resume. I've gone from having pretty noticeable stubble hours after shaving my legs to having legs that are still smooth feeling 4 or 5 days later. (I did about 4 treatments every 2 weeks and then took some time off. I did notice a bit more hair growth after a couple of months of not using it but it still wasn't anything like before. I've done another 4 treatments every 2 weeks now and have noticeably less). I've also started doing treatments on my bikini area and have noticed a dramatic decrease in the hair there. Of note: I've been using it on my underarms just as long as I've been doing it on my legs and while I've noticed some improvements there, they haven't seemed as dramatic as my legs and bikini area. There is definitely less hair there and I've gone from having to shave every day to avoid feeling like my armpit was lined with razor blades to shaving every other or every 3rd day (and even at that it doesn't feel nearly as abrasive or sharp as it used to) Even if I don't get rid of all the hair and have to keep using this fairly regularly for maintenance it's totally worth it to me just to avoid the constant shaving and to get a better result from shaving. As I type this review my legs feel like I just shaved them. And it's been 4 days. And before I started using this device I'd only get this level of smoothness for the first few hours after shaving. I would gladly do this a few times a month every month just to keep even this level of results. And as other pale, dark-haired people will attest, even closely shaved legs still have dark "dots" visible from the hair under the skin. This device nearly eliminates said "dots".
