I am 34 and currently have my 57 year old mother living with me. I bought 2 sets of these so we could use them together on our movie nights. So far we have only used them once. Warmed them in the oven at 200 degrees for about 10 minutes and then placed our feet on them while we watched a movie. About half way through the movie they had cooled enough that we both wanted them warmed again, but we were both pleased by how long they had stayed warm. After the two hour session (movie was over) I noticed how soft the bottom of my feet were. My mother, who does have roughed calloused feet was shocked that even hers felt smooth. Both of us enjoyed excellent sleep that night because we were so relaxed from the Salt blocks. Yes, the bricks are heavy, but this is a salt brick I'm not sure what people were expecting here but these bricks are over 2 inches thick and 8 inches long. They give you a generous portion that is going to last for years, they are going to be heavy. So yeah someone in their 80's with arthritis is probably not the best person to be handling these. One reviewer stated that they didn't change color. Well of course not, they are just being warmed up...their chemical composition isn't changing...what color were you expecting them to change? If you also know anything about holistic medicine or approaches you know that usually they aren't a one shot deal, use it once and "You're cured" type of thing...it is a process. You may not notice any mega changes after your first use, so saying they don't work after one session I think is unfair to say....Just like after one session I cannot say that they work in all ways. But I do know that I was very relaxed and I have a high stress very busy life and anything that helps me relax and get a really good nights sleep is worth doing and doing again. Since we first used these my mother has been practically begging me for another movie night and I agree. My best advice for anyone considering these is this: If you want a miracle detox after once use, pass on these bricks. If you want something that is indulgent and relaxing that you can do at home while watching tv or a movie and that may have some added benefits that you may see over time? Then give these a shot.
