At the time of purchase, there were two main competitors on Amazon for XL slim ice packs. The greenish Konas and the grey Cooler Shocks. The Cooler shocks were going for about twice the price of the Konas. I purchased both on lightning deals to compare. I will probably return the Cooler Shocks, although they are clearly a higher performing ice pack. They're three times as thick as the Konas, so yes, they will last longer. Not everyone needs their ice packs to last 5 days in their Yeti, though. The main reason I need them is that I live in the desert. 6 months out of the year, I keep a cooler in my trunk for when I do grocery shopping. If I'm out making multiple stops on errand day, I just want to make sure the items I bought at 7am are still frozen when I get home at noon. I like the fact that the Konas are very slim and can line the sides of the cooler without significantly reducing the space for my groceries. I also emailed the seller with a question and got a friendly response from Jaime the next day. For my needs, I will stick with the thinner, more affordable Konas.
