I really like the way you can take it apart and clean it. Even if you don't have pets they fill up with hair and lint much worse than a normal vacuum. I used it on my dads white short pile carpet (about 12 years old). he does not have pets. It still filled up with lint. he was going to replace his carpet. He now wants to buy one of these and keep his carpet. So it is a great investment. I used it at my house I have 3 large dogs. I have a thick pile carpet (about 3 years old) It works great on that too. However, the thing I don't like about it is on express clean I don't feel it puts down enough water. On deep clean it dumps water. I feel that it needs a third setting in between the two. I just usually leave it on express clean and go over the area a couple times. That seems to work great. Overall I would recommend this product.
