First let me start with the complete kit: everything arrived as described and is very high quality. (The directions are translated from Japanese but are not difficult to understand.) Second, I read all of the reviews I could find prior to my purchase and focused on the issues other reviewers had with the spigot. We went to a cigar store and bought cigar screens (I think the standard is size 5) and braced one inside of the spigot on the inside of the bucket. It fit perfectly with a little convincing. I definitely recommend this additional step to filter the liquid before it can clog the spigot. Third, we did not have any odors (no dead bodies, as one reviewer described). We did not open the unit often and we are vegetarian so there are no meat or bones added to our Bokashi. My fourth comment is very unusual, perhaps, but true. Our 9 year old 100lb Great Dane-weimaraner mix who never chews anything in our house (and is certified therapy dog), found the Bokashi to be absolutely delicious! In fact, it was sooo delicious that our unit was completely left unusable since the possibility of an air-tight seal was rendered impossible. Additionally, Winston (the Weimar-Dane) highly recommends the Bokashi bran as an after-dinner apperatif. (He snuck off with the bag and brought it to his dog bed.) The additional benefits, as he claims and as we witnessed firsthand, are extremely regular bowel movements for approximately 3 days. My ultimate advice: if you have a large dog with a hint of mischief anywhere in his soul, perhaps consider hiding or barricading your Bokashi otherwise it might turn out like the photos I have attached. LOL.
