I live in the region of the US where this film takes place and remember when Joe Bell embarked on his journey to tell his story. This is a small film that tells his story with a superb cast and a lot of love and regrets. Teenage bullying because someone is different has caused too many of our young people to take their own lives. I disagree that this is 'another gay film.' It could have been written about any teen who is bullied because the 'in' group at school decides they don't like you because of the way you look or talk or where you're from or for any stupid reason. It shows a little kindness can go a long, long way ... if we only let it.
