A monster
I love this thing. Background story: I bought a house to flip, but the house had been heavily smoked in. I did a bunch of research and found ozone generator are used in fire damaged or water damaged (mold) houses. So I came up with a good plan to rid the house of the cigarette smoke smell.
1) Immediately rip up and remove all carpet. The stank will never leave if you don't do this.
2) Proceed to wash the walls AND ceilings with a cleaning agent. I used TSP (tri sodium phosphate)
3) Wash all surfaces, windows, cabinets, tiled floors, wood floors, light fixtures, etc. with the appropriate cleaning agent. I used a bleach mixture on kitchen and bathroom tiled floors, then used a vinegar based solution on cabinets and such. Also used some lysol multi surface cleaners in a lot of areas.
4) After everything was washed (including ceilings), I flicked the switch on the ceiling fan blades to reverse the airflow upwards and busted out the Enerzen ozone generator. I sealed up each room and ran 1 hour treatments in each room until every room had been treated. The smell was virtually gone at this point. I honestly couldn't tell it had ever been smoked in. Also, I used a box fan to blow the ozone into the ceiling fans and let it bloom down throughout the rooms. Remember, ozone is heavier than air. You need to get it up high so it can properly disperse and eliminate everything.
4) Then, I started priming everything with Kilz original primer. This is an oil based primer that seals walls up so if that if you happen to have tar and tobacco and nicotine still on the walls, it will be blocked.
5) After everything was primed, including ceilings, I painted everything like normal. Some ceiling white on the ceilings and some good neutral colors on the walls.
6) Then I installed some hardwood, carpet, and various other new flooring.
Everyone said the house smelled like a fresh new house. It was amazing. The turning point was obviously after the ozone treatments. I can't believe I got such a powerful ozone generator for so cheap. This thing kicked some serious butt. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone. 5/5. If you are doing a cigarette smoked in house rehab, you NEED this thing!!!
