I live in an apartment which gets super dry with heat on. Its to the point we get sore throats in the morning and must drink plenty of water. I've been looking for a humidifier for a while but couldn't commit to one. I didnt want the big, ugly, and expensive ones that are marketed ideal for our apartment size, especially since many reviews said that they require regular replacement of parts that are also very expensive. I looked for smaller humidifiers but some reviews said they aren't powerful enough to make any difference. I loved the design and dimension of this humidifier but was skeptical of its effectiveness. To my surprise, my wife and I could feel the change in air as soon as I turned on the humidifier to the lowest setting. Air became cooler and humid, very comfortable to breath! I am a molecular biologist so I knew not to believe my sense which could just be a placebo effect. I had purchased a hygrometer and monitored humidity in my room for the past month or so. It usually ranged in 10-20%, on very rainy days it reached at most 30%. The first morning after using the humidifier, I'm seeing 40+%. I am pleasantly surprised by its performance! I should also note I had it on the lowest setting thinking I might run out of water overnight, but the water level barely changed in the morning. From its pace, I think it can go over 30 hours nonstop if you fill to the top. Just one thing to be careful (its so important I made it my title!). You have to remove the foam wrapped to the floater before use! The instruction does not mention anything about it and I poured water through the top as it is. The water leaked from the base and made a mess... It is a shame that this wasn't on the instruction but because I so love everything else about this product I will still leave a five stars.
