great product, make sure you use it correctly
So first off let me give a few tips about what I think are some of the main problems that some of the complaints are about, because it worked beautifully for me, but I know a bit about working with leather.
Soft leathers are more porous, so it's not just suede to look out for, but if you drag your fingers along the surface and you get that buttery soft peachskin feel like you get from pigskin or deerskin, even if there is no visible suede nap, that leather is going to be porous and it's going to soak this up really easily and may darken dramatically and look bad. This works best on leathers that have a semi smooth surface, they can have a grain, they can even be supple, but they shouldn't feel completely SOFT under your fingertips. honestly if it feels that soft why are you even putting this on it.
second, a lot of leather furniture has been treated with stain and spill resistant coatings which products like this aren't going to soak through well (if at all), and worse, once you've had this furniture for a while that coating will have begun to break down unevenly from use, which means that it will soak through in spots but will almost certainly be blotchy, and not penetrate at all in other spots.
finally, most of the people saying that it made their furniture permanently sticky or oily have probably used other conditioner products beforehand, general purpose "wipe and go, once a month" stuff like armor-all with a large amount of proprietary synthetic conditioners is often a cause for that behavior, and it ends up locking you in to only using their products forever because they're not all compatible with each other. there's a whole process for trying to reverse that, that I won't go into here, but google is your friend.
Anyway it took me awhile to use this, but I used this on both a leather jacket that had gotten wet in the rain and then allowed to dry improperly and also some leather hides that had been stored in a garage in Florida, alternating between hot and humid and hot and dry, and it took them both from being papery, coarse, and seeming unsalvageable to restoring them to wonderful soft almost newness
it's potent, don't go nuts using it. start small and add more if it needs more later. follow their directions.
