09/28/2016 UPDATE!!!!! Okay! So I got my Evo and to sum it up….I LOVE IT! From out of box to fully working took me literally about 45 seconds. It’s not really necessary but I did go to their instruction video on YouTube (search “Fremo Evo”) just to see it done once before doing it myself. I’ve included a few pictures but note the one of me holding the working Echo Dot without the power cord plugged in! Excellent indeed! One unexpected surprise is the use of a magnet to hold the units together. It’s obvious they took a lot of time in the design as the magnet is soft enough not to cause any performance issues with the Dot and separates easily when desired, but strong enough to hold the two units together firmly. As for the runtime, I charged the Evo fully and played Pandora continuously for over 6 hours before I stopped my test to go to bed….when I stopped, the charge indicator still had one LED lit so I’m not sure how much longer it could go…but hey…6 hours ain’t bad at all….I’ve used it every day for a week and it’s been perfect every time. On a side note, right before I came to update my review, I noticed someone saying theirs does not hold a charge. This has not happened at all with my Evo but in my experience, 99% of the time this happens because low quality aftermarket plugs and cables are being used. So…I would highly recommend using the plug and cable provided with the Echo Dot. Final Recommendation - Excellent Buy! And since I'm getting a Gen 2 Dot, I'm pre-ordering the Gen 2 Evo as well! [...] ------original review below-------- Finally an Echo accessory worth getting! The Echo Dot is a great product and this should make it better. I have a number of products from Fremo and they have all been excellent quality. I know a bit about batteries so I contacted their customer support regarding Evo and here is the summary: - uses a tier 1 battery (high quality) - warranty is for 1 year but the product is expected to last 3-5 years depending on how heavily it is used. - They quoted the industry standard of 80% capacity after 500 cycles. For those who don't know what that means, in layman terms, it means you can fully use and recharge the unit 500 times and it will still retain 80% of the initial capacity. So assuming you recharge it 3 times a week (that's a LOT), it will be 3.2 years before you see any noticeable difference in battery life. I am an early pre-order and will update when I receive it but so far so good!
