Finger hole size is fine if you know what you are doing
These are real haircutting scissors. These are REAL haircutting scissors. Why do I repeat myself? Well I have to because many reviews for this product are by (sorry) people who do not know what REAL haircutting scissors are. Please, before you give these scissors a bad review because the thumb hole is not huge like paper cutting scissors, take some time and review how real cosmetologists use scissors. The scissors are supported on the side with the finger rest (tang). The thumb is not supposed to be shoved into the other side. The scissors are not meant to be "torqued" like paper scissors, but are used with a lighter touch. THE SCISSORS DO ALL THE CUTTING. The good thing about this technique is that the scissors can be used with either the left or the right hand. If the scissors do not seem to cut well, you just need to tighten the adjustment screw. Now, a real cosmetologist may not call these "real" hair cutting scissors. After all, you could be paying upwards of $500 for a "real" pair of Shisatos. But then, if you knew about them, you would not have been looking here. I say they are "real" haircutting scissors in that they are not "paper" cutting scissors and should not be used that way. So, understand, the 5 stars are because they are very good scissors for the price range in which they are offered. They will work fine for home use or for a student first starting out. If you plan to cut hair every day in a saloon environment then you will have much more homework to do. Not saying they will not work for that purpose, but Expert Review did not test them in that environment.
